Some of Manowar’s greatest songs are on this record. This allowed him to play some really fast, melodic bass lines. The bass is high in the mix and he often plays piccolo bass (which I believe is a bass with lighter strings, sometimes with the strings placed closer together). DeMaio’s bass playing is not typical at all. His falsetto is one of the best in the metal game, easily. Eric’s cheesy operatic singing is second to none. Now, don’t get me wrong here, everyone in Manowar is great… It’s just that two of the members stand above the others. There’s magic in this band and it’s magic that must be shared! There’s a reason Manowar is one of the best known power metal bands and it’s not just because they’re so ridiculous. Whether you want to call it Power Metal, Epic Heavy Metal, USPM, or just plain Metal… it doesn’t matter. They’re now playing the power metal they’d be known for. He’s somehow the son of King Kai from Dragon Ball and has died more than a couple of times. He is a robot built by Crankey Kong who gained sentience after downloading Twitter. The good old American hard rock influence is still there, but to a much smaller degree. Metal Head is a character from the Donkey Kong Country TV Show who swapped bodies with Donkey Kong. And the music makes this bit so complete.Into Glory Ride is where Manowar embraced the epic side of their music. Maybe this snowball mayhem is the turning tide for the Kongs vs Snowmads war. Donkey Kong Original Edition is what you two are talking about and yes it was a Wii UK release originally from their online shop. And at the end, after the theme loops, when you enter the snowball and you listen to the first part again, but this time YOU are out to destroy the Snowmads, it is a precious epic moment that i rarely experience in a video game. It captures the feeling of chaos as you blast through the frozen caves while everything is out there to destroy you. It is af this melody was written in order to be performed in this exact way. I was never a huge fan of the Rocket Barrel theme because in every version something was missing to me. Kirkhope here emulates the Danny Elfman-in a Tim Burton movie-feeling. It actually add to the track's moodiness and makes it sound more dirty and dark (think of 90s hiphop with the lower sound quality but better mood, if you are familiar with it.) Althought that can be applied to all 3 dkc soundtracks.Ĭlose second is Frantic Factory. Also, it has this old-school pirate feeling, and the compression and general lack of sound quality doesn't bother me a bit. You know, it plays only when their big guys are out to play with the Kongs. Since i was a kid and played dkc2, this was always the Kremling Krew theme on my mind. It's strangely complicated in its simplicity, it sets the mood for a fight that Diddy and Dixie probably can't win (their eye-popping when the boss is revealed is an excellent bit), it is a remix of the overworld theme but being more intense and somehow darker, it is a remix of the mainbrace theme but being, you know, sinister and dark instead of happy, it is not overly long which is great for a boss theme (some of the boss fights are not that long), it has the best name (come on, Boss Bossanova is the best pun ever) and also it has a nostalgic feeling for me. I guess my favourite one is dkc2's Boss Bossanova.
